5 New Restaurants to Try in the L.A. Food Scene

Dining in Los Angeles can be an amazing experience, but with so many options, it’s difficult to know the best from the rest. In fact, the best new restaurants on the West Side and beyond are all over the map, including delicious Italian cuisine, modern Middle Eastern fare, California-inspired lunches, Peruvian dinners, and an epic dining experience.

Dialogue

If you’re looking for a unique dining experience, Dialogue in Santa Monica should be at the top of your list. The intimate 18-seat dining room offers diners a high-end experimental food adventure lead by James Beard award-winning chef Dave Beran.

Dining “tickets” must be purchased in advance and the meal is served in a tasting-menu format that tells a story of the current season in southern California. The menu is always evolving and is based on seasonal produce from local sources.

Felix

Located in Venice, Felix is the newest home to chef Evan Funke. The open-concept dining room allows visitors to view the artistic chef in action through the large glassed-in pasta kitchen window. Funke was deservingly named Best Chef of 2017 by Thrillist, which makes the culinary theatrics that much more entertaining.

The date-friendly restaurant offers a variety of Italian dishes, each more delicious than the next. Restaurant critics recommend the warm and chewy Sfincione (Italian bread) and the Trofie (spiral pasta in simple pesto).

Jaffa

Jaffa, one of West Hollywood’s newest locations for Middle Eastern fare, offers a variety of healthy dinner options that taste decadent. Chef Anne Conness’ modern Israeli menu includes homemade kubaneh bread, lamb couscous, and North African chickpea stew.

The light and airy dining room features a windowed patio that floods the room with natural light and the decor brings old and new design together with modern fabrics and mid-century lighting.

Fellow

While the highly anticipated Westwood restaurant Fellow won’t open its doors until mid-April, interested diners can sample the California-inspired menu before Fellow’s official opening. The innovative restaurant’s owners, Philip Camino & Terry Tolba, haven’t let construction delays dampen their momentum. As work on the restaurant’s facade continues, orders may be placed on the business’s website for delivery, pick-up, or catering.

The menu includes a variety of lunch fare, such as sandwiches with low-carb and gluten free options, salads, and numerous vegetarian choices.

Rosaline

West Hollywood’s newest Peruvian restaurant Rosaline offers guests a peek into chef Ricardo Zarate’s childhood. The menu is based on his mother’s (Rosaline) recipes updated with a Californian flair.

The open-concept dining room is perfect for large groups and the menu lends itself to shared plates. The ceviche crocante and chaufa paella come highly recommended.
